Tom Jensen welcomes new members and talks about DCBF’s first Members Meeting of 2008 with the theme: “Brief update on the Chinese Economy and Banking in China” where Carl Christensson, General Manager SEB Shanghai Branch, Fredrik Hähnel, Senior Vice President SEB Shanghai Branch, and James Z. Li Managing Director E.J. McKay were keynote speakers. He also talks about the new structure of the DCBF knowledge base and introduces Bonnie Dræby Lind, DCBF’s new Executive Assistant.

The Chinese invest huge sums in research as well as commerce and China is thus no longer a low-production country but has become a place with a high activity level within the areas of research and development. Uncovering the Chinese mindset - Cross-Cultural awareness training and introduction to Chinese Business Culture

Hanna Leanderdal, Sinologist and Tony Fang, PhD Stockholm University provide a one-day training program which helps to decode Chinese Business Culture and enhance intercultural awareness. One course will take place in Aarhus on 30th April and it will be repeated in Copenhagen on 20th May . There is a special 'Early Bird' offer for DCBF’s members signing up before 10th March.

Towards the China-specific HRCA Quick Check - The Tool for Human Rights and Business in China. By Mads Holst Jensen, Adviser, Ph.D., Human Rights & Business Project, Danish Institute for Human Rights

During 2008, the Human Rights & Business Project will develop a China specific version of the HRCA Quick Check to serve as a tool that tackles the issues of Human Rights & Business (HR&B) most relevant in the Chinese context and helps companies to enhance their human rights performance by their business operations and associates in China. Danish companies are invited to take part in this process, engage in road tests of the tool and receive advice in how they may incorporate the tool in their operations in China. Moreover, the Human Rights & Business Project offers in-company training and capacity building packages that may be included in the collaboration.
