China's President Hu Jintao will visit Denmark

The first ever official visit from a Chinese President

Danish-Chinese Business Forum warmly welcomes Hu Jintao, President of the People's Republic of China. The first ever official visit from a Chinese President, is a historic experience for Denmark and it is a unique opportunity to develop the already excellent relations between our countries.

Danish-Chinese cooperation has great future potential because of the Partnership Agreement from 2008, which Denmark is the only country in North Europe to have achieved with China. Mr. Hu Jintao’s visit would hopefully lead to a better utilization of the Partnership Agreement.

Mr. Hu Jintao’s visit gives a good basis for creating a number of new cooperation agreements between Denmark and China, and hopefully will agreements be signed during the visit. It is of great importance for Denmark and especially Danish business.

Danish key competencies and Chinese demand is a perfect match. Business cooperation on environment, energy, health, innovation, food security and design are possible sectors, where we should increase our engagement. The 12th five year plan has a lot in common and demands knowledge – that Denmark can offer. The visit is furthermore a great opportunity to brand Denmark to the Chinese. Denmark should catch this opportunity to brand Denmark as a country of excellent business opportunities. Remember that, according to the World Bank, Denmark is the number one country in Europe to do business with.

Denmark should optimize its relations with China, during this important visit. We must not go for short term profit and export, but must seek long term partnerships between our two countries. Denmark and China should in cooperation explore the new EU agreements with China, and engage in cooperation on urbanization, energy security and water.
