Partner Seminar: China SME conference - Establishment and Restructuring of Business Activities in China

On 6 October 2011, Berlingske Media and Danish-Chinese Business Forum held a conference at Berlingske Media with over 100 participants. Among prominente speakers were Ms. Ritt Bjerregaard and Mr. Humphrey Lau.

At the seminar, participants had the opportunity of gaining knowledge and insight on the Chinese market from several executives and managers who had already obtained success on the Chinese market.

Secretary General of Danish-Chinese Business Forum, Mr. Tom Jensen, began the seminar by introducing why China is interesting for Danish SMEs.

Export ambassador to China, Ms. Ritt Bjerregaard, followed Mr. Tom Jensen, by elaborating on what she would do for Danish SMEs in China.

Hereafter CEO of Grundfos in China, Mr. Humphrey Lau, held a presentation on how to become successful on the Chinese market. In his presentation Mr. Humphrey Lau brought up both concrete tools and his thoughts on how one should act on the Chinese market.

After a short break, participants had the opportunity to choose one of three workshops: Export, Establishment or Cultural Understanding. All workshops had several experts attached, who each held short presentations on the area of interest and answered questions from participants.

Following the work shop sessions, the participants were given a presentation by Ms. Christina Boutrup, journalist and author of the book “Kina Sweet & Sour”. She presented findings from her book and gave numerous examples of experiences Danish businessmen have had in China.

Mr. Ole Jørgensen, former CEO and owner of RM Group, now entrepreneur and investor in China, held a presentation on his experiences from doing business in China and on how to get started on the Chinese market.

The seminar ended with a musical performance arranged by Copenhagen Business Confucius Institute.
