Nordic Industrial Park (NIP) in Ningbo, greater Shanghai area, will in September 2010 open a brand new facility built with Scandinavian companies in mind. The so-called Incubator Project assures an easy and safe entry into China for Scandinavian companies which, apart from new and high-end office facilities, require a quick and reliable start-up service based on years of experience, as well as access to the unique network of Chinese authorities. All of the above are NIP’s hallmarks.
NIP is a Scandinavian-owned and operated business park with around 50 Scandinavian companies currently making use of its services and facilities. NIP has up to now been a business and an industrial park for Scandinavian companies that wanted an easy China entry through its unique network and know-how. Its incumbent customers are mainly working with production, manufacturing or import and export of products and components. With its new Incubator Project, the company opens up to many other business types as well. Peter Ølbye explains the reasons for having taken this step: “The concept behind the project is to make a place where the customers of NIP can benefit from each other as well as meet relevant suppliers, business partners and authorities. In doing so, they will benefit from NIP’s unique experience and local Chinese network both in the vulnerable start-up phase and also when the company is more established. We wish to create an environment for growth, innovation and business development, so Scandinavian companies can get the most out of doing business in and with China. What we envisage for the future is a growing need for technological design, product development and innovation. And we are already experiencing that both existing and potential customers want to be close to the growing Chinese and Asian markets. With our new Incubator Project we want to offer that opportunity to both large and –this is key - small and medium enterprises.” What kind of companies do you wish to attract? “The new Incubator Project should be interesting for a variety of companies. From the traditional production company looking to manufacture in China, develop and market their products in and from China, to companies that require, for example, local sales representation, sourcing, innovation or R&D facilities. We see a growing interest to set up in China from companies focusing on advanced services and support, to take advantages of this growing market. Our aim is to establish a creative, professional, safe and pleasant business environment for small start-up businesses and companies to larger research or science parks, as well as business- and innovation parks in Scandinavia, all of whom can set up branches in NIP under this new programme. We offer a safe and easy entry to China, even for smaller companies, and the opportunity for them to reap the full potential of their businesses. We also offer them a chance to meet, network and do business with companies they would most likely not have met if they had not been established in our park.” What do you, in essence, offer in the new Business &Incubator Center? “We offer a brand new and architecturally unique business center, brought to life by a unique cooperation of Chinese and Scandinavian design. Furthermore, we provide fully equipped and furnished offices, including all relevant amenities and utilities, fully serviced kitchen and canteen on-site, and beautiful surroundings with green spots throughout the area. And, needless to say, we continue to offer our well-known services, including start-up services, finance and accountant assistance as well as recruitment and other HR-related services.
The key philosophy behind the new project is to gather a broad variety of Scandinavian companies and organisations and facilitate a better contact and cooperation, both with each other and with relevant local public and private businesses and organisations. NIP has just received high-tech status on state level from the Chinese authorities - yet another benefit for our customers, as this status assures access to the best possible incentives in China for qualified companies operating in NIP.”
