COP15 and Danish-Chinese Business Forum.
On 15 December 2009, Danish-Chinese Business Forum organised a high-level event in connection with COP15.

During COP15, Danish-Chinese Business Forum successfully organised a high-level event in Bella Center in cooperation with the Chinese Embassy in Denmark. At this event, CEOs from member companies within energy and cleantech met with the Chinese high-level COP15 delegation. The Chinese side consisted of fourteen delegates and was led by Vice Chairman (minister level) of the National Development and Reform Commission, Mr. Xie Zhenhua. The delegation also included Vice Minister of Science and Technology, Vice Minister of Environmental Protection, the head of China Meteorological Administration, the Vice Chairman of Tsinghua University, and the Vice President of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Among the Danish participants were Permanent Secretary of State, Claus Grube; CEO of A.P. Møller-Mærsk A/S, Niels Smedegaard Andersen; CEO of Vestas A/S, Ditlev Engel; CEO of VKR-Holding A/S, Leif Jensen; CEO of Haldor Topsøe A/S, Niels Kegel Sørensen; CEO of Novozymes A/S, Steen Riisgaard; CEO of DTU, Niels Axel Nielsen.
The meeting was opened by Chairman of Danish-Business Forum, Mr. Nils Foss, and was followed by a speech by the Chinese COP15 chief negotiator, Mr. Xie Zhenhua. He emphasised China’s wish to obtain a good result in the negotiations in Copenhagen and highlighted the good cooperation between Denmark and China within sustainable technology. Mr. Xie Zhenhua stressed that he sees very good opportunities for an extended future cooperation between the two countries.
In his speech, Mr. Claus Grube addressed numerous strategic Danish-Chinese areas of cooperation within the environmental and energy sector. He underlined that the persistent Chinese efforts in achieving a good solution in the negotiations in Copenhagen are much appreciated.
The Chairman of Danish-Business Forum, Mr. Nils Foss, who was hosting the event, stressed the need for COP15 to result in an agreement with permanent goals and strict rules in order to ensure fair global competition. Mr. Nils Foss then made a presentation of the participating Danish companies and concluded by pointing out the importance of expanding and strengthening the Danish-Chinese strategic cooperation within wind, bio fuels, biomass, solar energy and other sustainable solutions.
The final speakers at the event were Vice Minister, Mr. Liu Yan Hua, Ministry of Science and Technology; Vice Minister, Mr. Li Gan Jie, Ministry of Environmental Protection, and Vice President, Mr. Du Xiang Wan, Chinese Academy of Engineering. They all spoke excellently on the importance of being able to deal with the environmental and energy-related challenges which China faces.
After the initial speeches and key notes, the meeting was concluded by a reception, where the Chinese delegation and the Danish industry leaders engaged in valuable informal talks, exchanging ideas and perspectives for future cooperation.
World Climate Solutions 2010 In continuation of COP15, the World Climate Solutions will be held in Copenhagen in September 2010. The World Climate Solutions is the biggest annual cleantech conference and trade show in Northern Europe with its focus is on transport, energy efficiency, and renewable and intelligent energy. Some of the core themes are innovation in low-carbon business, transport green cars, cleantech entrepreneurs, green IT, investment action, and buildings and cities. The participants in the World Climate Solutions include chief executives within the fields of energy efficiency and sustainable development as well as manufacturers of cleantech solutions, investors, decision-makers, advisors and consultants. In the following figure, an overview of the participants by sector is provided:

During the World Climate Solutions in Copenhagen, Danish-Chinese Business Forum will organise a study trip for the participating Chinese delegations from each of the four areas shown in the figure below. The delegations will, among other things, visit Danish municipalities as well as member companies of Danish-Chinese Business Forum. These visits will provide the delegations with the opportunity to see how the different sectors work in practice in Denmark.
