Dear members,
First of all, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new members since the last newsletter: • Technical University of Denmark • RXB Management Consulting • Ole Wolff Elektronik A/S • University of Copenhagen • Jupiter Group A/S • Roskilde Universitet • Hempel A/S • Niebuhr Gears A/S • Beck Pack Systems A/S • Eltronic A/S • BTX Group A/S • MillionBrains A/S • Tytex A/S The Chinese Economy In many ways, China has been less affected by the financial crisis than other countries. China’s economic growth continued in 2009, and it is expected to grow by 9 to 10 percent this year. In the first quarter of 2010 the Chinese economy revealed a growth of 11.9 percent. In addition, Goldman Sachs has recently predicted that China’s GDP will surpass that of the US by 2027. China’s considerable growth, as well as its current position as the world’s largest exporter, demonstrates the country’s seemingly unstoppable rise as a global economic superpower. In view of this, it is clear that China will be a significant player in the world in 2010.
EXPO 2010 In August 2010 Danish-Chinese Business Forum will attend EXPO 2010 in Shanghai. Danish-Chinese Business Forum’s working groups within design, cleantech and energy efficiency, food safety, and education and research have organised different activities taking place in the Danish Pavilion. This is a very good opportunity for our member companies to present their solutions targeted at the Chinese market as well as to meet key Chinese decision makers.
In this edition of the newsletter we will focus on EXPO. I am very pleased that two of our founding members, Ditlev Engel, CEO and President at Vestas, and Jens Eskelund, Director at Maersk China, are national partners at EXPO and will present their perspectives on EXPO in this edition of the newsletter. In addition, I am happy to present Christoffer Bo Bramsen’s new book about the Little Mermaid. Finally, I would like to draw your attention to the invitation published in this newsletter from our sister organisation DCCC in connection with EXPO.
Annual General Meeting I am looking forward to welcoming our members to our Annual General Meeting on 27 April, at Novo Nordisk A/S. We have invited the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Uffe Toudal Pedersen, and Deputy Head of Mission at the Chinese Embassy, Gu Hui, as key note speakers. For the first time, the Annual General Meeting will be followed by an Annual Dinner, where the Danish-Chinese Business Award will be presented. The invitations have already been sent out to our members.
