From August 25 to August 28 2010 Danish-Chinese Business Forum will participate in the World Exposition 2010 in Shanghai. The overall theme of the exhibition is “Better City, Better Life.” The Danish Expo concept is named Welfairytales and focuses on Danish companies’ innovative ability to create sustainable and coherent urban development and welfare solutions. The World Expo is a top priority for China and is a source of a great deal of national pride for the Chinese. The Danish participation signals therefore a commitment to a serious long-term cooperation with China.

We expect a number of Danish ministers and representatives from the Danish government to participate in our activities as well as important Chinese business makers are invited. In addition, Danish-Chinese Business Forum is very happy that our patron, His Royal Highness the Prince Consort of Denmark, will honour us with his presence during Expo 2010.

A number of Danish-Chinese Business Forum’s member companies within design, cleantech and energy efficiency, food safety, and education and research will participate in Expo 2010. They will organise meetings, seminars and receptions, with topics related to the companies’ activities. These events are all VIP events and will take place in the national Danish Pavilion, which is an official setting.

The event “Cleaner City, Better Life,” organised by the cleantech and energy efficiency companies, focuses on how to maximise growth and welfare while minimising resource consumption. The goal is to meet key Chinese decision makers at both the political and commercial level and to maintain relations, as well as to build new ones. The event will include a “speed meet-and-greet” session, where the Chinese participants will be seated at tables with the Danish participants rotating among them for short business meetings. In addition, a seminar with VIP presentations and a panel debate will take place. The participating Danish companies are all key players in the cleantech and energy efficiency sector.

“Brighter City, Better Life” is an event hosted by the design companies with the goal to brand design competencies as well as to maintain existing relations and build new ones with Chinese decision makers. The purpose is to attract the Chinese to cooperate with Danish designers on their R&D and, among other things, to adjust Chinese products to the European market. The event includes presentations introducing design and user-driven innovation as it is defined in Denmark. The participating Danish companies are among the most innovative in the Danish design industry.

Members within the education and research sector are hosting the event “Better Research, Better Life” which focuses on an overall branding of the Danish research and educational system. The event consists of a number of presentations introducing general features of the Danish research and educational system as well as examples of collaboration between private companies and educational institutions. In addition, sessions within existing research themes of the Sino-Danish Centre for Research and Education will take place and target individual branding of Danish capabilities within various research areas across institutions. All of Danish-Chinese Business Forum’s eight university members will participate in this event.

Member companies within food safety are organising an event related to food and dairy products. This event will consist of presentations, round table discussions and matchmaking sessions. The topics addressed include the Danish food safety system, food safety and a better health standard in the cities, and good basic products and fair prices for farmers. The main focus will be the dairy industry, including the Danish food regulations for milk products and better control methods for milk production. The participating Danish companies are all major players in the food industry.

Danish-Chinese Business Forum is cooperating with the organisers of World Climate Solutions in organising a Nordic-Chinese energy and climate day on 26 June at EXPO 2010, where a workshop will be held for key Chinese decision makers.

We look forward to sharing these interesting and promising events with our members in the national Danish Pavilion.
