Dear members
Since our last newsletter, our network has expanded to 142 members. I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new members:
- Ditlev Consulting - PSU AB Malmö - China Consult ApS - Kamstrup A/S - Andritz Feed & Biofuel A/S - Lemvigh-Müller A/S
I wish for all of you to make active use of the network and especially look forward to seeing you at our future member meetings. The first meeting in 2010 will take place at the premises of Nordea in Copenhagen on 7 January where the theme will be China’s economy after the financial crisis. This meeting will be followed by a meeting with a similar theme at Nordea in Århus on 12 January, for members prevented from attending in Copenhagen.
New Working Groups By request from many of our members, I am pleased to announce that we will be launching two new working groups in early 2010: a retail working group and a corporate social responsibility working group. The launch of these two working groups is, of course, demand-driven and will allow Danish-Chinese Business Forum to be at the cutting edge of contemporary challenges when it comes to doing business in China. Please contact Bonnie Dræby Lind if you are interested in more information about the new groups. E-mail: bdl@dcbf.dk
The Chinese Economy Chinese economy is showing impressive signs of recovery, and as we are approaching the year’s end, it is safe to say that China has proved wrong the pessimistic estimates of early 2009 and will have reached the government target of at least 8 percent growth in 2009. Our estimate for the growth in 2009 is 8.2 to 8.5 percent. The fairly modest economic growth in the first two quarters of 2009 was followed by 8.9 percent growth in the third quarter and looks to remain strong for the remainder of 2009. The remarkable strength of the Chinese economy is yet another testament to the prediction that China will soon become a huge engine of the world economic growth, rivalled only by the economic might of the United States.
Expo 2010 - Shanghai I would also encourage all our members to use the business facilities at the Danish Expo pavilion. Danish-Chinese Business Forum has reserved the pavilion’s business facilities for a number of days during the Expo to ensure our members access. By inviting your Chinese partners, customers, governmental contacts, employees and other business relations to the Danish pavilion, you will have the possibility of showing your guests the best of Danish lifestyle, innovation and sustainable solutions during the Expo 2010.
