Dear members,

Since our last newsletter, our network has expanded to 137 members. I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new members:

  • Notox A/S
  • Sinex Rejser A/S
  • Kompan A/S
  • Damixa ApS
  • A. Espersen A/S
  • Wind Cluster ApS

I am looking forward to welcoming you at our member meetings this autumn. One of them has already taken place on 17 September, at the premises of Brüel & Kjær in Nærum, where the theme was sourcing, import and logistics. The following two will take place at Aalborg Portland in Aalborg, and Crecea in Århus, with investing in production facilities and corporate social responsibility as themes, respectively.

The Chinese Economy
Although China is still affected by the financial crisis due to the meek economic recovery of its main exporting markets, the massive financial stimulus package has reduced the economic slowdown in the country, and most indicators predict that the Chinese economy will reach the government target of 8 percent growth in 2009. Goldman Sachs has indeed raised their estimates to an impressive 9.4 percent. The massive stimulus package presents giant opportunities for Danish businesses involved in the sectors where liquidity is currently abundant, with the Chinese government channelling 210 billion yuan into ecological and environmental projects.

Indeed, the positive signs from the Chinese economy are also backed by Danish-Chinese trading figures. Whereas overall Danish exports figures revealed a staggering 23 percent drop in the first six months of 2009 (compared to the same period in 2008), Danish exports to China grew by 6.5 percent, an impressive feat, considering the state of the world economy.

Member Meetings
Our future member meetings this autumn will take place on the following dates:

Oct 21 Ålborg Portland Case: Investing in Production Facilities (Entry and Exports)
Host: Aalborg Portland A/S, Aalborg

Nov 18 Corporate Social Responsibility
Host: CRECEA A/S, Århus

I look forward to seeing you at these future events and wish all of you success in your Chinese endeavours. China is the engine of the world economic growth, you will do well to intensify your business with China!

Tom Jensen
Secretary General
