Previously Arkitema Design has designed store concepts for a number of China Mobile sales offices. In 2007 the success of these store concepts led to the task of decorating the call centre where primarily younger employees service the customers of China Mobile by phone. China Mobile is China’s largest mobile carrier, rated in the global top 10 of companies with the biggest brand potential.

Interior Decoration as a strategic tool
Anne Qvist, head of Arkitema Design says of the design project: “Our approach to the interior decoration mirrors our focus on organization, management, employees and customers respectively. The decoration must ensure the best service for the customer, the best working environment for the employee, and a profitable business for the management. The work with the decoration of the call centre was an interesting task seen from a Danish point of view, where cubicle offices are not a wide spread phenomenon. As Danish designers we feel we can add a human touch to the cubicle and at the same time optimise the work flow of the centre”.

With the solutions proposed by Arkitema Design the existing building will function better, especially for the many employees who need noise reduction in their work with telephony – an aspect that has been a primary focus for Arkitema Design by the constant choice of noise cancelling materials – in this respect the design of the call centre becomes a strategic tool for the management in enhancing the performance of the employees.
