Talent Development – The Case of Novo Nordisk in China
Lars Christian Lassen, Senior Vice President Human Resources, Novo Nordisk A/S gave a talk about Novo Nordisk’s work with talent development in China. Novo Nordisk has 1800 employees in China, and wants to attract, retain and develop the most talented employees. To reach this goal they have the whole value chain in China in focus, from research and innovation, to production and sale. Novo Nordisk has also created a partnership with Peking University, where 60-80 of there best employees can get a MBA degree. For further details please refer to Mr. Lassens’s presentation.

Creating efficient talent management processes in China
Cecilia Bonefeldt-Dahl, CEO, MB it-Consulting A/S gave a talk on talent management in China. When working with talent development China is a relatively easy country to work in. Mrs. Bonefeldt-Dahl argued that the Chinese working culture is easy adaptable to new working procedures, and that Chinese employees are generally not resistant to changes and new structures. However, when working with talent development it is important to include the whole organization and remember that it is an international process that needs to be locally run.

The new Chinese Labour Contract Law
Luka Lu, Managing Partner, Capital Associates, Beijing presented the new Chinese labour law which came into effect on the 1st of January 2008. Luka Lu has extensive experience assisting Danish companies with legal matters in China. When employing staff in China, it is of great importance to know the details of the labour law, in order to avoid costly mistakes. Luka Lu went through the changes in the new law, and compared it to the old labour law. One of her points was that is it very important to write the terms and conditions in the contract as clearly as possible, and make sure they comply with the law.
