There are only two Business Confucius Institutes in the world, the other one being located at the London School of Economics.

The overall aim of Copenhagen Business Confucius Institute (CBCI) is to increase the understanding and knowledge of China in Denmark. In particular, CBCI wishes to contribute to the enhancement of business relations between Denmark and China. Through its activities, we hope that CBCI will create more successful business opportunities for Danish companies in China and for Chinese companies in Denmark.

CBCI will provide academic Chinese language courses, courses in business Chinese and Chinese language training courses for school teachers, as well as for the general public. In connection with the Chinese courses, study trips to China will be offered. CBCI is authorized to conduct HSK (Chinese language Proficiency test), YCT (Youth Chinese Test) and BCT (Business Chinese Tests).

In addition, CBCI will be offering courses in Chinese culture, and organize Chinese corners/salons on various topics related to China, such as travel, calligraphy, shadow boxing, acupuncture, etc.

Furthermore CBCI will be arranging workshops and seminars about Chinese philosophy, Chinese society and China’s economic and political development. CBCI will also be able to offer research assistance in areas related to Chinese studies.

CBCI is established in collaboration with Renmin University in Beijing, which has sent a teacher sponsored by the Office of Chinese Language Council International, also known as Hanban. Hanban authorizes the establishment of Confucius Institutes. Renmin University is one of China’s top universities within the humanities in general and in teaching Chinese language as a foreign language in particular.

The official opening of the CBCI will take place on September 4th, 2008 at 3 PM at Copenhagen Business School. All are welcome to join us in this celebration.
