On the initiative of Danish-Chinese Business Forum, the Minister of Climate and Energy has agreed to invite a delegation of Chinese high-ranking officials from the relevant governmental authorities. In cooperation with Danish-Chinese Business Forum, the organizers of Nordic Climate Solutions has arranged for the conference to be expanded with a special China track (2 to 3 hours) on November 25.

China and Climate Change
China is on its way to become the largest energy market in the world, with the greatest environmental challenges. This creates an enormous potential for the Nordic companies within clean tech and energy. The current five-year plan of China includes 250 billion dollar for investments in energy savings and environmental considerations and a range of ambitious goals. For example, 15 pct. of China’s energy in 2015 is required to stem from renewable sources.
 
Jiang Zhemin, the former Prime Minister of China, argues that energy should be China’s main political priority towards 2020. President Hu Jintao wants the business community of the Nordic countries to have a bigger share of the vast Chinese market. "I hope that the entrepreneurs in the Nordic countries will tap into the vast Chinese market," said President Hu Jintao before concluding a visit to Sweden last year.

In this context, and thanks to a successful partnership with Danish Chinese Business Forum, and with the collaboration of the Danish Ministry of Climate and Energy, Nordic Climate Solutions is extremely pleased to welcome a delegation of high-level Chinese officials to the Nordic Climate Solutions event that takes place on November 25-26, 2008.

What is the Purpose of Nordic Climate Solutions?
Nordic Climate Solutions (NCS) is Scandinavia's most important marketplace for stakeholders within climate change, energy, and clean tech industries. It is jointly organised with the Nordic Council of Ministers.

Towards and beyond the Copenhagen UN Summit (COP15) in 2009, NCS will gather a significant number of business and industry leaders to showcase ready–to–implement solutions. In 2007 NCS brought together more than 600 decision makers, and 1000 delegates are projected for the NCS event on November 25–26, 2008.

The Nordic Region is known throughout the world as a pioneer in environmental and energy technology and sustainability. NCS is an opportunity for Nordic and international businesses to learn from the best, and enhance their competencies, products, technologies and networks. Together, industries such as energy, transport, and construction will tackle climate change and present the solutions of today and of tomorrow.

What Differentiates Nordic Climate Solutions from Other Climate Conferences?
First, as a world-class event it will connect the most important overseas markets with the Nordic supply. Hence, Nordic Climate Solutions not only constitutes a meeting place but also a market place. One of the main goals of the event is to enable Nordic businesses of all sizes to explore and develop their export and partnership possibilities, and thus profit from the event in actual terms.
 
Furthermore, it is not only a conference but also an exhibition, where more than 50 exhibitors will be presenting the latest developments in clean tech and climate change related services. The conference provides key knowledge regarding opportunities in climate technologies, competencies and business models. The exhibition is an integrated part of the conference, and during lunch, coffee breaks, and the closing reception, plenty of time is left for visiting the exhibitors’ stands.

As networking is an essential part of such an event, Nordic Climate Solutions has developed unique lounge areas, where meetings are set up between international buyers’ delegations and Nordic exporters at the Hosted Buyers Lounge; between Nordic entrepreneurs and Nordic/international investors at the Investor and Entrepreneur Lounge; and between Nordic PhD students and hiring companies at the Career and Recruitment Lounge.

Finally, Nordic Climate Solutions is not a one time shot but a yearly event that is here to stay. Whilst many other conferences still focus more on the causes and consequences of climate change, this event is focused on the long term implementation of solutions.

What role will the high-level Chinese delegation play at Nordic Climate Solutions?
The Chinese delegation, of high-ranking officials, will take part in the opening keynote session, visit the exhibition and join the VIP Gala Dinner. The delegation will get the chance to present China’s challenges in relation to energy and the environment and the Chinese policies in these areas. Nordic experts and researchers will present the latest Nordic research and development in the field.

In addition to visiting Nordic Climate Solutions, a special three-day programme for the Chinese delegation is being developed by Danish-Chinese Business Forum. The programme will include a seminar organized in the Danish Energy Authority plus visits to companies and project sites where state-of-the art technologies on innovative energy efficiency are implemented.
